"The future ain't what it used to be."

Would you go if you knew you could not return?

Lots of folks are clamoring for the opportunity! There is a lot of doubt as to the feasibility of the operation, though.

I'm with you Dizzie on the feasibility part...Colonizing Mars by 2023 is ambitious to say the least...When I mention this to most people I know, they say they would not want to go if given the choice. If this plan does go through, at least Humans will have a second home if something should happen to Earth.

I would definitely go to Mars knowing it was a one way trip. Just to be part of something that huge and momentous. I've had a good marriage and had all my kids so that part of my life is done.

You'd leave your wife and kids???!!!!

Any even on Mars we would have the internet part of the day there would just be a 30 minutes delay in comms.....it would just be like I retired to the South Pole or something...how many parents see their kids every day after they have grown up and got their own lives anyway? You have to see it in perspective...Die as one of the pioneers on another planet (possibly sooner than expected, that's part of the excitement) or eventually die of boredom uselessly in an old people s home ?

Awe that's quite sad to me :( I see my mother every other day or so, and my grandparents too. (I am lucky to have one on each side still alive in their 90's) I hope that my children still see me and we remain close as I grow old. My oldest is a teenager, and I know it's a long way off, but I can't imagine that we would ever not see each other.

You think you will grow old in a facility? That would be tragic. Although this trip would be epic, it wouldn't be worth it to me to never see all my loved ones again.

I heard about this and i feel that i wanna go there however the rest of your life will spend in the planet and you don't know what will happen ,travelling in this planet is different on travelling in other place and having accommodation in hotel or juhlatilat is is really different on going there. But still i am very interested about it.
