In the Martian meteorite Allan Hills 84001, found in 1984 in Antarctica, Japanese planetary scientists were able to construct ancient nitrogen-rich organic molecules. This means that organics existed on early Mars, carried by meteorites or formed directly on the planet.

Since then, there has been no sensational news.
