Being a sentient spaceship should be more enjoyable. But after nearly a century of spreading across space, Bob and his clones can't seem to keep out of trouble.
They've established enough colonies that humanity should not become extinct. Yet, political squabbles have a horrible knack of dying hard, and the Brazilian investigations are still attempting to eliminate the competition. And the Bobs have chosen to battle an older, more powerful species with a voracious appetite and a short temper.
The Bobs are already hurting from the first time they met the Others and got their asses kicked. Now, they have to fight one last battle to save Earth and its colonies. The Bobs, on the other hand, are as disorganized as a herd of cats, and some of the younger copies are more concerned with their own local problems than with defeating the Others.
Nevertheless, redemption may come from an unexpected source. A pair of eighth-generation Bobs have discovered something in deep space. It will only take them getting to Sol to save the Earth and possibly all of humanity—unless the Others arrive first.
