My Teacher Glows in the Dark by Bruce Coville follows the story of Peter Thompson, a sixth-grade student who's nervous about starting a new school year. However, things take a turn when his science teacher, Mr. Smith, disappears during a class experiment. When he reappears the next day, Mr. Smith seems different, and Peter soon discovers that his teacher has gained the ability to glow in the dark.
