Hello
Hello. This blog was created on July 13, 2053, and published on the same day in 2007. My name is Juan, and I’m from Madrid. I’m one of the
first tourists from Spain to travel through time. I know it sounds like science fiction, but in the year I’m writing this, it’s possible.
I’m not going to write to announce catastrophes or the winning lottery numbers. If you’re a time traveler, why not share all the interesting things that will happen
in the world? You might be wondering. I’m going to give you the answer, along with some information from my current era. The first thing that comes to mind when you think about
whether you could ever travel through time would be thoughts like: “I’ll know the winning number and buy it the day before and I’ll be rich,”
“I’ll kill Hitler as soon as he’s born,” “I’ll look for valuable objects and bring them back to my time”…
The list could go on forever, right? None of this is possible. And I’ll explain why. Before I begin, I’d like to tell you that I can’t mention any
names or specific details, because otherwise you can’t travel further due to interaction with the environment you’re traveling to (there’s a set of inviolable rules).
In the 2030s, a group of Eastern scientists announce that they have managed to create a wormhole in a laboratory. The news doesn’t
make much of an impact, only in the scientific community, and not very much at that. But four years later, these same scientists announce that they have managed “To manipulate the wormhole by being able to
alter the time inside it.” The first test with a living being was with a mouse. Micro-robots had been used before, and after verifying that with a certain
degree of alteration to the interior they did not disintegrate (something that was a major concern before), it was decided to introduce a living being. The experiment consisted
of altering the time inside the wormhole so that the mouse would appear 1 minute later in a dome with another wormhole connected
to the first. The result was that the mouse appeared completely healthy 1 minute later in said dome. The news was a huge worldwide sensation, as
it was announced that “in about 7 years we will be able to travel through time.” Why so much? They still had a problem: they knew how to send someone to the future but
not how to return them to their original time. It took 12 years to solve it. I still remember when I was a child and it was announced that “Man has
finally created an invention desired for centuries.” I cannot say the name of the first human to travel through time, but I can To say that he is Asian and
young. He traveled at 5:00 PM with a 6:00 PM destination and returned again. He succeeded. But here I think that many of you will have a different concept of power
Time travel. When you travel, you go to the same place but in a parallel timeline (sound familiar?). Let’s say it’s a kind of real-life video game. You can talk, feel,
smell, shout… you can do everything, but it’s not your reality. This doesn’t mean, for example, that if you rob a bank and take all the money, nothing will
happen to you. The same thing would happen as if you did it in your reality. But at that moment, you’ll be trapped in that situation until you solve the
problem. To prevent any of this from happening, all of this is explained before booking a trip, in a “World Treaty of Civic Behavior Through Time”
(known as the TMCCT). Well, I don’t want to go on any longer about the travel method. Oh! It will be marketed by a very well-known Japanese brand.
What I’m going to write below I’ve taken from current affairs websites from my time, so you can see a little bit about how it all works.
We are currently experiencing a rather long drought, although this has been the norm for many years now. It seems that spring no longer exists, only winter and summer.
Spain has become a very dry country, like North Africa. Water is very precious, and there is extreme control to prevent waste.
During my visit in 2007, you had a beautiful country. I assure you that now everything is more difficult. In summer, everyone who can goes to the north for their holidays, where
the heat is more bearable and at least the temperatures are mild. Southern Spain is unbearable in summer. Many inhabitants of the south are being
forced to emigrate because the climate has become extreme: very heavy rains in winter and unbearable heat in summer. Central Spain does not have
such an extreme climate, but pollution is causing many people to suffer from serious respiratory illnesses and even death.
In technology, compared to 2007, we have advanced a great deal.
There are cars, but their fuel source is hydrogen and biodegradable natural compounds. Gasoline is prohibited, and
its use was completely phased out some years ago. This measure was taken due to the alarming pollution (especially in the Middle East) that was causing
global air quality to drop by up to 30%
. There are also “flying cars.” Major brands have a wide range of models. Currently, there are more flying cars than automobiles.
But don’t think that users can go wherever they want in the air. There are designated flight paths to maintain order. Moreover, this order is unavoidable because
when you buy your vehicle, it comes pre-programmed to prevent the user from leaving the designated path. Traffic signs don’t exist. Everything is perfectly controlled.
And the distances between vehicles are 2.5 meters at a constant speed of 200 km/h on highways, and 100 km/h on urban roads.
There were many conveniences in my day; here are a few:
in 2007, high-resolution TFT flat screens were all the rage. Today they’re relics of the past and hard to find.
In 2053, HV (hologram vision) will be all the rage. There won’t be any screen. You’ll take the device (about 5 cm), place it
wherever you want, and watch the programming in 3D. No sound device is needed, since the signal emitted by the hologram’s image also emits
its corresponding sound, so the sound “comes out” of the hologram.
In 2007, I saw some small devices with a liquid crystal display that were used as a “virtual pet.” Just remembering that today makes me laugh.
In 2053, hologram vision pets are part of the home. They are 3D models with their own artificial intelligence, which recognize their owner and behave
like living beings (the truth is that you can’t tell the difference).
Yes, it’s true. In 2053, there was a company that sold telephones and used the slogan “connecting people.” That company was
one of the first to create what could be called “the new mobile phones.” Now you’re going to be surprised when I tell you that it
doesn’t physically exist. Once again, the hologram (essential nowadays) is also used for communication. You carry a small device, about 2 cm, with you,
and you can program it to show you where to view a “virtual visit” when you receive one. Normally, everyone uses their left or right hand as a viewer. When
the visit (or call, although calls are rare these days) is received, the palm of the hand opens and the hologram is projected. If in 2007 there were hardly any people who didn’t have a
mobile phone, the same is true today with this device. And it’s not just for “talking.” Older people are in
constant contact with their doctors when they are out and about. Home, the children are located…
Medicine has advanced, fortunately. It’s no longer necessary to go to health centers for minor illnesses as in the past. Today, you are
examined from your home using… yes, once again, holography. You receive the treatment on your “mobile communicator,” and once received, you can purchase it immediately
at the nearest dispenser. For more serious illnesses, hospitals exist, but not in the way you understand them.
There, they grow artificial organs, skin, blood, limbs… created from stem cells. The path that is so successful today had already begun in 2007.
The internet in 2053 is very different from what it used to be. Today, most actions are carried out online. You can attend live meetings thanks to the internet and
3D holograms. High-voltage channels are broadcast online. Everything is touch-sensitive. Online advertising can be touched, smelled, and even tried on. Large, established brands
use the internet to showcase their new, increasingly intelligent fabrics. Shoes, trousers, shirts, gloves, hats… all clothing is monitored:
temperature, humidity, fragrance, comfort…
Something I do miss from my visit in 2007 is the abundance of green spaces compared to now. They should have preserved those areas, because now
you’re used to them. But when you see what it was like, it’s overwhelming.
As for the type of people in Spain, let’s just say we’re a country of mixes. Many races have blended together, and there are very few truly 100% Spanish people left.
Video games are more or less like time travel, but that space is virtually created by humans. I recently tried one that’s been
a huge hit in the United States. It reminded me a lot of “GTA” from 2007. The difference is that it’s not a character that responds when you move the controller; instead, you’re the one
inside the scene, and you feel everything around you. Again, the East is behind this. The brand is very well-known.
Don’t think that in 2053 homes will clean themselves and food will cook itself. For that, 70% of humanity owns a “DSR” (Domestic System Robot).
It does all the tasks it’s assigned in the house; let’s say it’s the butler from that series I saw recently starring the old Will Smith (he was a kid!).
Nowadays, they’re the ones who take care of the tasks that humans least want to do: healthcare, security, dangerous jobs…
Terrorism still exists in this era. In fact, it’s worse now than in your time when they attack, but it’s difficult for them to succeed because this world is very controlled today
(they say that’s not a good thing). They use biological weapons that have unfortunately caused many victims. I hope they finish them all off very soon.
And well, you’ll discover the rest for yourselves. But I’m warning you, between 2010 and 2020 you’re going to get a world-class surprise!
Thank you so much for letting me know a little more about life in the future. I hope they don’t find out, otherwise it’ll be the last time I travel (that’s how the laws are, besides locking you up for a few years).
My reason for visiting 2007 on my first trip was because something very special is going to happen that year for my family, and I wanted to be there.
I’m taking a risk by writing this, but it’s about time someone from the future came and said that travel will be possible. My next goal (I repeat, if they don’t discover me)
It will be the Middle Ages. See you in the future!
