Great handle! It gets right to the heart of the matter here - paradox.

Your question is similar to mine: what’s the point of posting? As stated above, this is a Standard Model QM scenario. Same world. All she had to do was read the posts in October 2008 to know how she had already been received and then go back to September to either post or not post.

But there’s the paradox. It’s a viscious paradox because the “effect” - the posts that she read in October - would appear to her to have created themselves. What happens if she reads them, is frustrated, and never goes to 2008 to write them? Yet there they are - with no obvious cause.

And how does she know that DARPA invented time travel? The technology can’t be kept secret for all time on to the future infinity. It will leak out. Someone will eventually travel back and settle in the past with their time machine, the knowledge to build time machines and whatever else they have technologically. Now we have the “future” technology co-residing in the “past”. The technology is available, linearly, before it’s invented. Why invent it? Who invented it? It’s already there when “the future” arrives. There’s no incentive to invent something that already exists - and no reason to go back to the past and take the technology with them.

You have the paradox of effect with no cause. And that’s what his/her story implies.

This is the reason why the early wanna-be time travelers stuck to the Everett-Wheeler model - it avoids those obvious paradoxical outcomes. And it also gives them an out if their predictions are wrong because the history known to them is not ours (which still begs the question of why post as if they have a message that applys to us?)

Oh, yeah - her version of the Standard Model is incorrect. In the Standard Model you can TT only as far back as when the time machine was first activated. That’s where the loop is formed. As the time machine moves forward in time the diameter of the loop increases so that you can travel back to that point from more distant points in the future. But the loop doesn’t extend any farther into the past than when it was originally created.

I never said anything about “doomsday”. It is funny that you should come to that conclusion since these things I mentioned have happened in the past. The world isn´t all rainbows and butterflies, there is more death and destruction than love and happiness.

It should also have been clear from my first post that I envisioned a britgher, more spiritual future for us all. The fact government agencies are sending men back in time on some top secret mission to retrieve some special statistics to me, well, sounds a little “silly”. Don´t get me wrong. I believe in time travel-- I just believe mankind is looking at time from the wrong perspective.

We are all a part of the same consciousness, experiencing itself subjectively. Time and space is just an illusion of this fabric of the Universe. The universe is within our minds, we have the ability to be everywhere and anywhere at the same time yet we only choose one path, one option, because we are not yet ready and still have no comprehension of it all.

2012, I know, will be the great awakening of mankind, and I don´t mean that at all in a “doomsday” way. A great evolution is on the way, this I know.

So, you´ve travel back in time? If everything you say is in fact true than time, as it is defined, cannot exist. By doing this you are voiding all present, past, and future, altering everything that is and was. By changing something in the past you can´t make a ripple in the future. You cannot leave a dent in something that does not exist, yet you can create a reality from something as infinite is the Universe we live in. I have heard “temporal time lines” discuss among self declared time travelers, and even they admit you cannot change the past, it simple creates an alternate “time line”, or in my case just slides through to a tangent or alternate Universe.

If you like I can elaborate on this later if you wish, unfortunately it is getting late so I must head of to bed.

It wont be a tragic loss if he, or she, doesn´t answer any more questions. It really doesn´t matter if Lyndzee is, or isn´t, from the “future”, I mean of what great significance is that to us? None, really.

So far I´ve come to learn, if this is in fact true, that Hillary Clinton will be president, international sports will be banned, the future of video gaming lies within hand-held consoles, and America remains strong and prosperous for another sixteen years. Not really enlightening.

I am sure if Lyndzee´s situation was real she would be willing to help me deliver a letter to my grandmother who died seven years ago.

Don’t hold your breath. The only reason I have come to this board is in the hopes that time travel is real and I can find a time traveler willing to get a message to me this past spring so I can keep my son from being killed in an accident. My first pm to Lyndzee she said she was sorry but no way it’s not allowed, the second pm she never answered.

If this is what time travel is created for, helping the government get bigger, more powerful, and more able to control the population, I hope they haven’t figured it out. If this technology can’t be used to help individuals who were killed by others careless actions then shame on humanity.

If I were some sort of time traveler and Lyndzee made the same request to me I would do what I could to help her. If I didn’t want people asking for my help, then I wouldn’t be posting to public forums. Even though I am here, I have to say if there are people time traveling, I doubt they are posting to any of the forums. If I were one, I sure wouldn’t be. I would be on forums discussing the topics I was here to study and I would NOT tell anyone I was a time traveler. The only reason to do that is for attention, isn’t it?

I believe there is a lot more out there. A lot more to learn. I think most people on this forum have the wrong idea of time, and of life in general.

I am sorry your loss. I am not sure whether what I am about to say will bring any closure to your emotions but your son is still with you. Even though you may not see him he lives within you.

Yes, but I imagine everyone on the forum would have something they would want changed from a real time traveler. They probably get those requests all the time. Heck even the guy I talked to at Brookhaven Labs put in a request that John go buy him some shares of Apple computer if he was real.

I wonder if time travelers ready to leave get a co-worker or two come up to them and say “hey buddy..if you have time do you think while you are back there you could…”

It must be kind of expected of them. Before John left one of the things he asked me was if there
was anything he could do for me when he arrived where he was going. I was kind of surprised at the question myself.

I believe you have had a very personal experience with a former self acclaimed time traveler. That experience was probably an incomplete one and you are probably still searching for an answer. You seem very trusting of most self acclaimed travelers. I am not saying that is a bad thing.

Most of us may live to see 2020. I am going to make it my mission to let these time travelers know that they are chasing chickens. The word time really needs to revised, reviewed, and re-written.

ROME - Rising food prices are partly to blame for adding 75 million more people to the ranks of the world’s hungry in 2007 and lifting the global figure to roughly 925 million, the UN’s food agency said on Wednesday.

Jacques Diouf, head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), presented the figure to Italy’s parliament ahead of the release of an official report on Thursday.

Again, according to J. Richard Gott (Time Travel in Einstein’s Universe, the physical possibilities - or something close to that for the book’s name) is that Time Travel has to be “Self-Consistent”.

Also lately, it has been stated that the Past can not be changed - but only the future. If the Past has happened, you can not go back and try to change it – I guess it will not work maybe, or something or else it is another opinion perhaps from different scientists.

But to me, the first rule from J. Richard Gott from Princeton University makes sense.

Therefore, if the Posts were posted by the posters, then they have to be also there in the future, or else, between that time, the forum is no longer around. That could be, but then…?

There was this guy on public television (Bill Moyer’s show) partly heard.
According to him, he expects that values in houses will drop by 30-40%, and it will take years to recover from what has happened here just recently in this timeline. According to Alan Greenspan, this may be a once in a century kind of deal, but to me, it seems to be sinking down into a black hole. Actually I expect it to get worse than even what he thinks, but at least he stated some real reasons that he does know about when on the Bill Moyer’s show. Sorry, do not remember the name but perhaps maybe a book perhaps called “Bad Money” or something of that has something to do with it. Afterall the TV may be on, but then I may have been somewhere else in thinking.

So, she/he claiming to be a time traveller just does not seem likely to me. Afterall if you had been reading some other forums, right now there are some cities in the USA having real problems. Out of gas like Nashville in areas, and even in Indiana - some town and some other places after Ike.
Not perhaps because of Ike since it only likely rained in some of those places, but the amount of people not ready for anything in this Country then complaining about it afterwards. It all amounts to what do you think people ought to believe?

So Lyn fades into non-existence offering neither anything of value-- nor getting the answers she requested.

The only one thing that she has given is that the governor of Massachusetts will become president.

(Which she misspelled the name to begin with) and apparently DARPA is much more open with information in the future.

Intentionally defensive from the very beginning of these TT claims—,I think is an automatic turn off for me.

When will there be a claim that would bend our minds so hard in a direction that can leave us silent?

It seems that just proving that fact of time travel is actually subjective— based upon events that have no conceptual bearing on the concept of time travel or an event occuring.

I know people here have already gone down this train of thought.

Is there no other way to prove /disprove these storys within a very short period of time–like recall has stated------- a specific set of questions that the poster MUST respond to before carrying on with a story claim?

Until a standard can be met—and what would we use for a standard?

Yeah, there are a few things that didn´t quite add up with Lyndzee´s story. I think that the John Titor incident really got people thinking. I mean, look at the “ripple” he left, I am sure there are many others out there that would love to be remembered as a Time Traveling Prophet. It is an ego thing.

or silliness mixed in. Complete belief is dangerous for a time traveler.
