Signs that might reveal a time traveler among us

What signs can we observe that indicate time travel; perhaps an unusual scuffle at the local bar?

The above would be one heck of a way to meet one!
Hopefully I am not wearing, nor have… any of what they would want/need THAT day.
I think being at the right time & place is one way.
I also think being on a Time Travel board would be a second place/way.
Being involved in the right career choices, colleges, having the right friends?
Being one yourself, may just help… as well.
Knowing what to watch out for as a time traveler may help meet more
& avoid them possibly as well.
The right family lineage.

Well… thankfully i haven’t come across a time traveller… as far as i know… one thing is certain; they may ask or say one of five things…

What year is it?

May I have your clothes?

Be excellent to each other and party on my dudes.

STATION!

Hurry we need to get you out of here there is no time! (followed by gunfire.)

Language evolves faster than most realize. A traveler would likely exhibit “linguistic drift.”

Syntactic Structure: They might inadvertently use slang, colloquialisms, or grammatical shortcuts that will only become prevalent years from now.

The Tell: Pay attention to a subtle mismatch in terminology—specifically regarding technology. A traveler might struggle to describe an object using 2026-appropriate language, reaching for a word that hasn’t been coined yet, or conversely, using outdated terms with a level of familiarity that feels “archaic” or “re-enacted.”

Digital footprints are the enemy of a time traveler. The safest path is to rely entirely on cash, but this presents a problem: how do they obtain legal tender that passes visual and chemical inspection?

Mechanism: They would likely source “vintage” cash—uncirculated currency from the exact era they are visiting, obtained from long-forgotten stashes or private collections where the serial numbers are not flagged in modern databases.

Behavior: They would operate entirely outside the grid. They would avoid using credit cards, bank transfers, or any services requiring biometric verification. Their “economic footprint” would appear to an observer as an individual who simply does not exist in the digital sphere—a ghost-like existence that, while suspicious, is often dismissed by authorities as a “privacy fanatic” or “sovereign citizen.”

You could also find them in liquors store, maybe walking down a road.
As your neighbor & you didn’t even know!
Post offices, or… other kinds of drop spots?
if you are watching for crazy stock luck!
Paranormal boards!
Researching urban legends/almost unbelievable stories?
The clothes they wear, or… the tech they have?
If you are up~to~date enough to know it is bleeding edge that you have never seen or heard of before.
The lingo they use possibly is off or advanced/abnormal somehow?
They have advanced knowledge.
while trying to still keep their head low?
They are pretty darn cool!
Idk more struff like that I suppose!

Note: I just thought of one, Being sued by them! :grimacing:
