"The future ain't what it used to be."

Who here feels they have a good grasp of what manipulation is and means?

Webster defines it as: to control or play upon by artful, unfair, or insidious means especially to one's own advantage; to change by artful or unfair means so as to serve one's purpose.
--- --- ---

Unfair advantage?

Serve one’s purpose?

What do you see in your day-to-day lives that fall under those terms?

It’s everywhere, in the work place, in politics, in the churches, in marriages. Somehow everyone is trying to get someone.

Because they’re selfish.

They can only think and feel for them selves.

There is a basic need for wanting to have the advantage… for control, for power. To feel that your important and worth something.

Anyone recognize anyone with those traits in your day-to-day lives?

But why do they feel this need to dominate others?

What leads to the inevitable need to manipulate?

Some are good people and some are bad people, some are mean people some are nice people, it doesn’t matter what kind of person it can be, but what does matter is why do they need to manipulate?

Could it be that there is no compassion in their hearts to govern their understanding of the bigger picture?

What drives them to be so narrow minded and want to hurt others? Through careless acts they unfairly alter things to their advantage.

But why? Is selfishness their only motivation? Or is it something more?

Could it be a primitive instinct for survival?

A momentary lapse of judgment where all reason is locked out?

Well to manipulate, you need to reason.

I feel that some how in all my posturing on the subject, I am forgetting something about the true cause of manipulation.

Anyone wanna share their perspectives?

<<its everywhere, in the work place, politics, the church, marriges. Some how every one is trying to get sombody>>>>

Its called intraspecies competition. Its the natural way of things. This has been institutionalized and embedded in the culture as "Good old fashioned American Capitalism".

Capitalism is the "ethical justification" for the fine art of turning your money into my money. Once I've completed that task you have become a friggen BUM and I've become LORD COOL.

We no longer fight with sticks and clubs. Todays warfare is by and for cash. Cash is a weapon. Debt is a tool to make sure YOU don't have any cash.

So thats my theory of why people are manipulating. Its cash, they feel the inbred cultural obligation to take it from you. People who are NOT out there collecting cash are plain slackers through and through. Hey, its the American Way.

If you are the third world and don't have any cash left to take, well just go ahead and die of aids... you won't be missed.

Lest I leave this hanging, don't think for a minute THEY don't know this better than you or I. Don't think they ain't royally pissed about it. And don't think they aren't gonna be sending some payback real soon.
