Time Field vs Time Wormhole

From what I've seen and read, it seems apparent that most experiments involving manipulating time involve a time field of sorts that cause the space within the affected area to change speed relative or come to practically a complete stop, quite like the method of travel in the old movie 'The Time Machine', where the machine sits there in the same space for the whole duration while around him things fast forward - Buildings come and go, wars, major geological changes...

What about a more sort of 'wormhole' style time travel? You know, where the TM travels to another time and during the duration between leaving time and destination time the vehichle is not present in space/time at all? And then, it just 're-appears' in its destined time.

The latter would seem much more practical if it could be acheived... With the first method it just seems a bit 'vulnerable' to sit there occupying the same space for years to the outside world (assuming travel to the future). In that time, anyone or anything could possibly interfere with your vehichle and its field! And it seems a bit hard to imagine to use this method to go 'back' in time...

If a more 'wormhole' method (for lack of a better term) of time travel is being researched and anyone has theories on exactly how this is gone about (Creating a link between two specific points in time, maintaining the wormhole for the time needed, safe for matter and lifeforms to go through) I would be interested in hearing it.

This is how wormhole based time machine works. Wormholes are essentially microscopic, radius in the 10^-33 cm ranges. Wormholes always come in pairs, with a tunnel in between, called the throat. think of it as the handle on a coffee mug. now, capture a pair of wormholes, sounds easy eh? enlarge it with negative energy. send one off into space at the speed of light or a little bit less, when it comes home, you have 2 worm holes of different time. enter the one on earth, you will emerge from the other one at an earlier time. I dont have a lot of time right now, email me if you have questions: [email protected]<hr size="1" width="80%" color="#000099" align="left"><Corran>
iv heard of your therie on NOVA on pbs. but didnt they also say that once the end of the wormhole that was at relatavistic speeds comes back it would (and i forget why...) cause a mass explosion? have you heard of this or am i wasting time...?
Worm holes come in all differnt sizes and shapes.

The definate length for points A. to B. no matter how far or short, must be travled.

This traverse may only take seconds, however the distance itself, must be traveled.
