The 2007 Atlantic hurricane season should be "very active," with nine hurricanes and a good chance that at least one major hurricane will hit the U.S. coast, a top researcher said Tuesday.

Forecaster William Gray said he expects a total of 17 named storms this year, five of them major hurricanes with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater.

The probability of a major hurricane making landfall on the U.S. coast this year: 74 percent, compared with the average of 52 percent over the past century, he said.

Thanks for sharing.

Now, if memory serves me right... didn't they make the same predictions about last year's hurricane season? And if I recall, we only had a handful of named storms and no major catastrophes.

Suppose you are a small radio station and can't afford a weatherman. So you create a bogus weather forcasting system for your news. You simply take the weather data from thelocal stations with weathermen, average them out, and put out your 'predictions' without knowing one damned thing about the weather.

It may be that you will have the most reliable weather news in town. :D

On a side note, the previous poll suggests Animals are way ahead using their abilities
to predict weather, beating our technology..... I truly believe Animals have the upper hand
here but that might change as our technology gets better.

I remember that when I was a kid and an Earthquake was about to hit dogs will bark, and fish will
act odd.
