I'm not entirely sure how such a prize can be guaranteed in any way. With the absence of the space shuttle, one is going to have to bribe....sorry, pay.....the Russians $20 million for a ride.

Technically, it depends upon which definition you use for "space". Let's not forget that Sir Dicky Branson just revealed his new SpaceShip2. Now, as an aero prof, I always have to explain to my students that while flights of this vehicle TECHNICALLY meet the definition of space (i.e. they rise above the artificial 100 km/62 mile boundary), they are most definitely sub-orbital.

So yes, those people who will be paying ungodly sums for a 2-5 minute ride into "space" will technically be known as space-faring citizens...Russians or not! /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
