Introduction
This is a revision of the United States presidential election of 1992.
The election was a three-way race between incumbent Republican President George H. W. Bush, Democrat Bill Clinton, and Independent Ross Perot. In the current timeline, Clinton beat Bush by around 6 percentage points (about 43% to about 37%), with Perot coming in third at around 18%. This revised version of history makes this 1992 victory for Clinton quite a bit narrower. In this revision, Clinton has 37.7% of the popular vote compared to Bush’s 36.4%, and Perot’s whopping 25.1%, for a victory margin of more than 1 percentage point between Clinton and Bush, making the popular vote a very close race!
I’m doing this because of Republican President Ronald Reagan’s popularity which is carried on to George H. W. Bush, and this revised election reflects on comparison with the revised 1988 election, where Bush beats Democrat Michael Dukakis by close to 19 percentage points. The fact that Bush was a RINO who lied about his 1988 campaign promises diminishes his popularity among the patriotic American (“conservative”) base and leads to Perot taking millions of votes away from Bush. In this scenario, Bush would have beaten Clinton by a landslide margin nonetheless if it weren’t for Perot.
The revised election below is organized state-by-state in alphabetical order, for a total of 50 states plus the District of Columbia.
