Thoth-Posssible Time Travel Candidate

I don't know how many people here are familiar with Thoth, however, I find his story to be interesting when viewed as a possible candidate for a time traveler.

It is somewhat difficult to seperate the God-like attributes and dogma surrounding a possible real man, but as those tall-tales are filtered, an interesting picture emerges. Certainly, all within the realm of speculation, but one never really knows what truth's are hidden underneath the sands of time. <font color="white"> Sometimes these truths are right before us and we dont see them.
A man such as Thoth certainly fits the criteria of a possible time traveler, or at least what qualities one would expect that a time traveling man would have in order to accomplish several feats.

Armed with scientific knowledge, he could set himself up as God-Like in ancient times. I refer to Thoth appearing during a particular time period, making himself known to ( in this instance ) a Pharaoh, then traveling to another point in time, and once again making himself known.

He would not have appeared to age, and this in itself would cause belief that the time traveler was indeed a God.

Thoth defined:

He was considered the heart and tongue of Ra as well as the means by which Ra's will was translated into speech.[3] He has also been likened to the Logos of Plato[3] and the mind of God.[4] (see The All) In the Egyptian mythology, he has played many vital and prominent roles, including being one of the two deities (the other being Ma'at) who stood on either side of Ra's boat.[5] He has further been involved in arbitration,[6] magic, writing, science,[7] and the judging of the dead.[8]

His roles in Egyptian mythology were many. Thoth served as a mediating power, especially between good and evil, making sure neither had a decisive victory over the other.[29] He also served as scribe of the gods,[30] credited with the invention of writing and alphabets (ie. hieroglyphs) themselves.[31] In the underworld, Duat, he appeared as an ape, A'an, the god of equilibrium, who reported when the scales weighing the deceased's heart against the feather, representing the principle of Ma'at, was exactly even.[32]

The ancient Egyptians regarded Thoth as One, self-begotten, and self-produced.[20] He was the master of both physical and moral (ie. Divine) law,[20] making proper use of Ma'at.[3] He is credited with making the calculations for the establishment of the heavens, stars, Earth,[33] and everything in them.[3] Compare this to how his feminine counterpart, Ma'at was the force which maintained the Universe.[34] He is said to direct the motions of the heavenly bodies. Without his words, the Egyptians believed, the gods would not exist.[35] His power was almost unlimited in the Underworld and rivaled that of Ra and Osiris.[20]

The Egyptians credited him as the author of all works of science, religion, philosophy, and magic.[36] The Greeks further declared him the inventor of astronomy, astrology, the science of numbers, mathematics, geometry, land surveying, medicine, botany, theology, civilized government, the alphabet, reading, writing, and oratory. They further claimed he was the true author of every work of every branch of knowledge, human and divine.[37]

Other Myths surrounding Thoth:

Thoth has played a prominent role in many of the Egyptian myths. Displaying his role as arbitrator, he had overseen the three epic battles between good and evil. All three battles are fundamentally the same and belong to different periods. The first battle took place between Ra and Apep, the second between Heru-Bekhutet and Set, and the third between Horus, the son of Osiris, and Set. In each instance, the former god represented order while the latter represented chaos. If one god was seriously injured, Thoth would heal them to prevent either from overtaking the other.
<font color="white">Thoth also is reported to arrive every thousand years.
Thoth was also prominent in the Osiris myth, being of great aid to Isis. After Isis gathered together the pieces of Osiris' dismembered body, he gave her the words to resurrect him so she could be impregnated and bring forth Horus. When Horus was slain, Thoth gave the formulae to resurrect him as well. Similar to God speaking the words to create the heavens and Earth in Judeo-Christian mythology, Thoth, being the god who always speaks the words that fulfill the wishes of Ra, spoke the words that created the heavens and Earth in Egyptian mythology.

This mythology also credits him with the creation of the 365 day calendar. Originally, according to the myth, the year was only 360 days long and Nut was sterile during these days, unable to bear children. Thoth gambled with Khonsu, the moon, for 1/72nd of its light (360/72 = 5), or 5 days, and won. During these 5 days, Nut gave birth to Kheru-ur (Horus the Elder, Face of Heaven), Osiris, Set, Isis, and Nepthys.

In the Ogdoad cosmogony myth, Thoth gave birth to Ra, Atum, Nefertum, and Khepri.
............................

"Thoth the god of [Egypt whose sacred city was Khemenu, also called Hermopolis by the Greeks after Thoth's alter-ego Hermes], who measured time, counted the days, numbered the months and recorded the years. Thoth commanded the mysterious forces of the universe; knowing the sounds, words and gestures by which these forces are put in motion, and not content with using them for his own benefit he also teaches his worshippers the art of employing them. Thoth formed no exception to this rule. He was the lord of the voice, master of words and books, possessor and inventor of those magic writings which nothing in heaven, on earth or in hades can withstand. He had discovered the incantations which evoke and control the gods; he had transcribed the texts and noted the melodies of these incantations; he recited them with that true intonation which renders them all powerful, and every one, whether god or man to whom he imparted them, and whose voice he made true became like himself the master of the universe. He had accomplished creation, not by a muscular effort to which the rest of the cosmogonical gods primarily owed their birth but by means of formulas or even of the voice alone, the first time when he awoke in the Nu. The articulate word and the voice were believed to be the most potent of the creative forces, not remaining immaterial on issuing from the lips, but condensing so to speak into tangible substances, into bodies which were themselves animated by creative life and energy"

"...The ancient Egyptians had...worshipped Thoth as 'the personification of the mind of god', as 'the author of every work on every branch of knowledge, both human and divine', and as 'the inventory of astronomy and astrology, the science of numbers and mathematics, geometry and land surveying, medicine and botany."
"...Thoth, who had been seen by the Egyptians as the source of all their knowledge and science, had been credited with having caused a flood to punish humankind for wickedness. In this episode, related in Chapter CLXXV of the Book of the Dead, he had acted jointly with his counterpart Osiris. Both deities had subsequently ruled on earth after the human race had begun to flourish again."
- Graham Hancock, The Sign and the Seal

Thoth, by way of the teaching of Sacred Geometry, is thought to be responsible for Akhenaten becoming king of Egypt.

Akhenaten is credited with creating the first "monotheistic" religion in Egypt, based on the Law of One.

Thoth is also supposed to have helped to build, or had a hand in building the Great Pyramid
<font color="white"> A sick Miss America is crowned
Thoth, also is said to be responsible for the evacuation of inhabitants to other lands, namely, Egypt (Khem), the Himalayan regions of the world, and the Americas following at the time known as The Fracturing.

Thoth, initiated the reconstruction of the planetary grid of unity consciousness, through the creation of various Sacred Sites around the world.

Thoth also seems to have a hand in other major civilizations of ancient times, including the Greeks, Islam, and Christianity.

Thoth's qualities also led to him being identified by the Greeks with their closest matching god Hermes, with whom Thoth was eventually combined, as Hermes Trismegistus, also leading to the Greeks naming Thoth's cult centre as Hermopolis, meaning city of Hermes.

Anyone familiar with Hermetics knows how much the work may have impacted certain disciplines within ancient theology, philiosophy and science. Some of these still carried out to this day.

.........................

If Thoth wished to prove his power...

"""In Egypt, deep under the sand in some places, large areas with green glass have been found. It was origionally thought that the glass came from perhaps a rather large meteor impacting there but later scientists decided due to the size of the hole created by the impact, a meteor of that size wouldn't have created enough heat to cause the sand to turn to green glass so far from the impact area. A nuclear weapon, however, would have done this. """

"""New York Herald Tribune on February 16, 1947:

When the first atomic bomb exploded in New Mexico, the desert sand turned to fused green glass."""

Thoth proving his power through the use of his scientific knowledge ? I would imagine that he would only need to do this once to have the ancient people elevate him to a God-like status, and extremely feared.

To Rainman:

One of Thoth 's titles, "Three times Great" !

I am connecting this particular title of Thoth as a reference to all the posts written about your 3x Matrix theories. Perhaps, your theories much more than mere speculation, and put into practice by Time Traveler Thoth.

.................................

Thoth certainly seems to be a busy guy ...and through the use of a time traveling device, could have carried out all these feats, and made quite an impact on any particular civilization he became involved with in the past.

.................................

I also would like to submit for review...He may have been involved with civilizations existing on other continents as well.

Keeping in mind that he would have had knowledge of the future, knowing specific technologies would exist and when...he could build in references for future generations to discover, if not for himself.

The Bible Code was mentioned as being designed for civilizations having computers to use and retreive the encoded information. Something our time traveler Thoth would have known.

The simularities between the Eygptian and Mayan, Aztec Civlizations seemingly to canny to be coincidence. Another mystery created by the presence of our time traveling friend, Thoth ?

A schematic done of a major Mayan city resulted with an interesting result...and appears to possibly be a circuit board.

circuitboard.jpg

Perhaps, some aspects of the circuit board a bit beyond our current state of electronic understanding, but perhaps one day someone will understand what the components are and build it for what results we only can imagine.

And perhaps this circuit board is one of many others that exist infused into ancient civilizations by the Time Traveler Thoth.

Put together, who knows what kind of machine could be the constructed by putting all the pieces together? Possible that some portions would seem to be lost in time, buried under tons of sand and soil, however, Time Traveler Thoth would have known this and taken all such factors into account.

Another interesting aspect to this:
<font color="white"> Hello Rainman how are you today ?
If a future scientist did indeed travel to the ancient past, and did become the "God" known as Thoth, and who knows how many other 'incarnations' within many ancient civilizations...if he died in ancient Eygpt or some other remote location in time, would he have (in thoery) have created a loop in time ?

Whether Thoth is alive today, as a babe in the crib, is certainly unknown, however, this man still has yet to exist, build his machine, and travel back to the ancient past. Yet, he has already perished long ago.

Thoth was seen as a god of wisdom, magic, and the measurement, and regulation, of events, and of time.

Whether or not Thoth was indeed a "real" time traveler or not, Thoth seems to fulfill the expectations I would have regarding a time traveling man.
<font color="white"> Wonder if remote viewers can see this?
To borrow a quote from an esteemed friend here on TTI..." Truth IS stranger than fiction. "

Greetings Kerr,

Well, there is certainly no doubt in my mind that Thoth is certainly a much more exciting potential time traveler than John Titor (and that means he is light years ahead of HDRKID!) :D

However, the problem, of course, is always in separating myth from fact. On a small scale this is the same problem we have with Titor (and on a miniscule scale the issue with HDRKID). Perhaps the really instructive aspect then is not so much "is/was someone really a time traveler" but rather "what role does myth play in the human experience?" Two questions that come to my mind in this regard:

1) What is it about the human psyche that causes people to "want" (choose) to believe in something that sound clearly mythical?
2) Is there a bigger purpose for myth and mysticism other than just "relating facts of what occurred in the past"?

In mythical fables we see important lessons that are intended to get people to consider the ramifications of their actions (or inactions, as the case may be). We know the story of the tortoise and the hare, and the story of the ant and the grasshopper. Clearly, no one in their right mind would claim these were accurate accountings of history... for we understand they are intended to teach lessons. So why is it that humans seems to ascribe a higher level of "believability" when a myth is inscribed within the construct of a human life?

I often think one of the greatest minds of our past century to grapple with the "Power of Myth" was none other than Joseph Campbell. I believe he helped us understand that the instance of a myth wherein the mythical figure was human was a vehicle for transmitting knowledge over time. In other words, wrapped within the myth were aspects of truth that a particular culture felt was important to pass down to later generations... and without books or computers, the myth was a perfect vehicle to do just that.

Other thoughts on the power and purpose of myths in our own lives?

Thoth is certainly a much more exciting potential time traveler...

He is at that. There are massive amounts of information surrounding this man, whoever he was. The dynamics seem to fit the profile of a "real" time traveler.

I commented in my post that Time Traveler Thoth left clues for others to discover, and realized that he may not have left anything for anybody but himself to decipher.

The encoded information, he may have left embedded within various "constructs", markers that only he will recognize at some point in the future. A means to make money to fund his education and the construction of his craft.

If the layout of that ancient city is indeed a ciruit board, is meaningless in itself, and would need to be identified as to what the actual components could be ( something Time Traveler Thoth himself would recognize ), and more importantly, one would need the software to operate whatever device the circuit board would be used within.

I ran several of Thoth's names through a code translator, very interesting results.

Time Traveler Thoth, if he did leave information embedded within various places, physically, in myth and legend, certainly fits within the scope of who Thoth was..or is..or will be...

As far as embedded information is concerned, we discussed just such a subject in the God ? Thread, and as a result, I encoded all kinds of hidden messages in my posts to make a point.

That thread has existed for how long now ? Not one person has found the hidden messages encoded within those posts.

Time Traveler Thoth in the America's ?

It is interesting to note the resemblance of the Quetzacoatl legend with that of the myth of the Pahana held by the Hopis of northern Arizona. Scholars have described many similarities between the myths of the Aztecs and those of the American Southwest.

The Hopi describe the Pahana as the "Lost White Brother," and they expected his eventual return from the east during which he would destroy the wicked and begin a new era of peace and prosperity. Hopi tradition maintains that they at first mistook the Spanish conquistadors as the Pahana when they arrived on the Hopi mesas in the 16th century.

Some scholars still hold the view that the fall of the Aztec empire can in part be attributed to Moctezuma's belief in Cortés as the returning Quetzalcoatl.

Quetzalcoatl was called "Ipalnemohuani", a title reserved for the gods directly involved in the creation, which means "by whom we live". Because the name Ipalnemohuani is singular, this led to speculations that the Aztec were becoming monotheistic and all the main gods were only one.

Quetzalcoatl was said to oppose human sacrifice.

Quetzalcoatl is often referred to as the patron god of the Aztec priesthood, of learning and knowledge.

Quetzalcoatl is often referred to as The Feathered Serpent.

The Sacred Ibis was an object of religious veneration in ancient Egypt, particularly associated with the god, Thoth . At the town of Hermopolis, ibises were reared specifically for sacrificial purposes and in the Serapeum at Saqqara, archaeologists found the mummies of one and a half million ibises and hundreds of thousands of falcons

The mystery deepens.

Just a thought...

Thoth certainly seem's to be a clever one. One way to avoid a language problem with any ancient civilizations...do what Thoth is said to have done in the myths...teach the civilization a language you made up yourself.

Neat little trick.

Yes, indeed. I remember you mentioning this to me as we went thru the process of that thread way back when... I spent a little time back then looking for them and trying to identify them, but without much success.

Perhaps enough time has passed that you might share with us some of those coded messages? I think it would be a most interesting visit to the past to see what was there that many of us had missed! And in this revealing we may have more information to continue a discussion of how information is passed down through time cloaked in the wrapper of myth?

What say ye? /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Does Thoth (it's a title not a name BTW) have to be anything more than a member of a more advanced society? Our own aid workers and previous era's engineers and missionaries certainly came from "another world" compared to the Third World they were imperially bestride, but it didn't make them time travellers.

I would love to see time travel proof but I think at best neurisms and ooparts are hard solid physical evidence of the deliberately obscured history of the Ramayana / Baghavad Gita / Atlantis / Dzyan Scrolls era high technology culture.

<font color="white"> Hello Angleochoas !!!
If you know his name, then by all means let me know what it is...until then Thoth will have to suffice.

You might be correct, that Thoth was merely a member of a more advanced society.
<font color="white"> How are you today...??
As I mentioned in the first post of this thread, this is all speculation, nothing more.

I just tried to put myself in the position as someone who does build a time traveling device and what "I" would do with one.

I would assemble a team together, and look at the history of mankind to determine which civilization(s) had the best potential to achieve my goals as provided to them by me and/or my team. I would then arrive at a point in time that allows me to establish my own language, specific to that civilization.

Same goes for any written language...by using one that I created, resolves communication problems, and also takes into account me not knowing theirs. Wouldn't have to...once I established myself as a God, it would be easier to "teach" the people the language of the God's, then for me to figure out theirs.

I would demonstrate the use of a devastating weapon if need be to make it be known that I was not one to fool with...future civilizations might find remnants of the use of my weapon, but I would know that the chances of anyone determining what I did is remote, knowing that in time, most reliable physical evidence would be no more.
<font color="white"> Hope you are well.
I also would leave clues embedded within the past, for ME to find later to acquire the funds to not only build the device, but to fund the expedition to the past, as well. Maybe, I had some trouble building my device, eventually figuring it out, but placed a solution into the past somehwere, that allows me to resolve the problem more quickly.
<font color="white"> LOL !!!
I could care less if anyone else figured out what my messages to myself would be, or make sure that it was obscure enough that nobody but me and my team would ever be able to figure it out.

IF Thoth was a time traveler, or team of time traveler's, they accomplished their mission quite well, as today, traces of their feat(s) lost in obscurity, and all real evidence erased in time.
<font color="white"> Could write a whole different post in here...
Exactly what I would do if I was a time traveler. And as a member of a future civilization, all you would find regarding my ventures into the past, is what you now read in myth and legend.

Just as I would want you to have it.

Another thought on this...

If I did travel back in time as described above, and at one point wandered off into the wilds, and died...one of the team-members could return to the future with the device, and any materials that would link me (us) to the future.

And if they did that...they would meet guess who when they came back ? Me.

Then we could then go to another civilization and do the same thing.

I would have created a loop in time, and the rest of the non-time travelers would suffer all kinds of side effects, but un-aware of me and my teams activities, attribute these side effects to the supernatural or some other pyschological anomalies.

Maybe people would even post in a time traveling forum of strange Deja-Vu events, accounts of experiencing varied memories and time-line differences.

Muh-ah-ha-ha-ha!!!

"n 1970, Dr. Ray Brown, a naturopathic practitioner from Mesa, Arizona, went scuba diving with some friends near the Bari Islands in the Bahamas, close to a popular area known as the Tongue of the Ocean (This was depicted in the television show, "In Search Of...Atlantis," originally made in 1979.
During one of his dives, Brown became separated from his friends and while searching for them he was startled when he came across a strange pyramid shape silhouetted against the aquamarine light. Upon investigating further, Brown was surprised by how smooth and mirror-like was the stone surface of the whole structure, with the joints between the individual blocks almost indiscernible. Swimming around the capstone, which Brown thought might have been lapis lazuli, he discovered an entrance and decided to explore inside. Passing along a narrow hallway, Brown finally came to a small rectangular room with a pyramid-shaped ceiling. He was totally amazed that this room contained no algae or coral growing on the inner walls. They were completely spotless! In addition, though Brown had brought no torch with him, he could nevertheless see everything in the room with his normal eyesight. The room was well lit, but no direct light source was visible. Brown's attention was drawn to a brassy metallic rod three inches in diameter hanging down from the apex of the center of the room and at its end was attached a many-facetted red gem, which tapered to a point. Directly below this rod and gem, sitting in the middle of the room, was a stand of carved stone topped by a stone plate with scrolled ends. On the plate there was a pair of carved metal bronze-colored hands, life-sized, which appeared blackened and burnt, as if having been subjected to tremendous heat. Nestled in the hands, and situated four feet directly below the ceiling rod gem point, was a crystal sphere four-inches in diameter. Brown tried to loosen the ceiling rod and red gemstone but neither would move. Returning to the crystal sphere, he found, to his amazement, that it separated easily from the bronze hand holders. With the crystal sphere in his right hand he then made his way out of the pyramid. As he departed, Brown felt an unseen presence and heard a voice telling him never to return!
Fearing, rightly, that his unusual prize might be confiscated as salvage-treasure by the American Government, Dr. Brown did not reveal the existence of his strange crystal sphere, nor did he relate his experiences until 1975, when he exhibited his crystal for the first time at a psychic seminar in Phoenix.
Since that time, the crystal sphere has made only a very few public appearances but on each occasion people who have seen it have experienced strange phenomena directly associated with it.
Deep inside the crystal form, one gazes upon three pyramidal images, one in front of the other,in decreasing sizes. Some people who enter a deep meditative state of consciousness are able to discern a fourth pyramid, in the foreground of the other three.
Elizabeth Bacon, a New York psychic, claimed while in trance, that the crystal sphere had once belonged to Thoth, the Egyptian God who was responsible for burying a secret vault of knowledge in Giza, near the three great Pyramids. Perhaps the positions of the three pyramidal images in the crystal sphere hold the long-sought key to finding a fourth, as yet unfound, subterranean pyramid that will lead us to the Hall of Records? Who knows?
Looking at the crystal sphere from the side, the internal images dissolve into thousands of tiny fracture lines. Brown feels that these may prove to be electrical in nature, like some form of microscopic circuitry. From yet another angle, and under special conditions, many people have been able to see a large single human eye staring out serenely at them. Photographs of this eye have also been taken. I have not been able to find this photo anywhere. If you know anything about the photo of the eye drop me a line please.
Dr. Brown's crystal sphere has been the source of a wide variety of paranormal and mysterious occurrences. People have felt breezes or winds blowing close to it. Both cold and warm layers surround it at various distances. Other witnesses have observed phantom lights, heard voices or felt strange tingling sensations surrounding it. A compass needle, when placed next to the crystal sphere, will spin counter-clockwise, then commence turning in the opposite direction when moved only inches away. Metals become temporarily magnetized when they come into close contact with the sphere.
There are even recorded instances where healing has taken place by merely touching the sphere.
We may only speculate as to why the crystal sphere was created and what part it once played within the underwater Bahamas pyramid discovered by Ray Brown."

So there you go, it's posted on my LOOP blog, and is one of those classic fringe stories... Thoth related and all!

Look on the bright side... this is better than seeing the next Zeshua post (which is coming). If you recall, Zeshua began her "experiments" by trying to "target" this board in the February timeframe. For several of the last few years, right around the end of FEB we have received the "test posts" trying to make us believe they were coming from the future and had not "perfected" the link yet.

I'd rather have a chat with Thoth over Zeshua anyday!
