Suppose I wanted to travel through time. Suppose I also wanted to LIVE. How could I guarantee that I would never take a trip that would cost me my life?
Suppose I built a ROBOT of sorts, equipped with a "temporal displacement device". And programmed it to launch thirty minutes AFTER my trip is scheduled to end (I return), also program its terminus at some point before my trip begins. In other words, the act of safely RETURNING would allow me to cancel the timer on the "timebot"; but by my NOT-RETURNING it would launch, and as I was powering up for the trip the sudden appearance of my little messenger would convince me to "power-down" and not make the trip.
Any other ideas for such a "contingency plan"?
