can a person sweat underwater? if so, how do you know?
No.

1) If the water is temperate, it will carry heat away from the body more quickly than air at the same temperature.
2) If the water is hot enough to cause sweating, the increased pressure on the skin will probably be greater than that exerted by the sweat glands, thereby preventing sweat from exiting the glands. Also, at eleveated temperatures, sweating will be the least of your worries.
